Here’s a detailed and honest review of the Go Highlevel (GHL) App – the dubbed all-in-one CRM platform for digital marketing agencies and modern businesses (big or small).

Not long ago, my daily routine involved juggling separate apps for email newsletters, landing pages, client scheduling, a CRM to track leads, and more.

When you manage several brands, it can be time-consuming, frustrating, and expensive. You get lost in busywork masked as productivity. I knew there had to be a better way to streamline everything.

If you’ve used tools like ClickFunnels or WordPress, this will feel familiar – you can start from a template or build from scratch.
I was able to recreate my old landing page and sales funnel inside GHL pretty quickly. It’s not the fanciest page builder on the market (design flexibility is somewhat basic compared to dedicated tools), but it gets the job done for most marketing needs.The big plus: these funnels integrate natively with the CRM and automation. When a lead fills out a form on your GHL page, they’re instantly in your pipeline and workflows.
Bonus: GoHighLevel even supports online payments and memberships inside your funnels – you can sell products or courses and deliver content behind a membership login without needing a separate platform for online courses.
Appointment Scheduling & Calendars: Say goodbye to back-and-forth emails trying to book meetings. GHL has a built-in calendar system similar to Honeybook. You can embed booking calendars on your site or funnel pages so clients can self-schedule appointments. The system sends automatic confirmation and reminder notifications (via email or text), dramatically reducing no-shows.
Use Case Scenario: I link GoHighLevel to my Google Calendar and manage all my client calls and meetings seamlessly. Guess what? It auto-checks my calendar for conflicts and prevents double-booking on my behalf!
For a solo operator, having scheduling integrated with the CRM is a godsend – I can see, for example, that “Anna” booked a call next Tuesday, and our entire message history is right there too.
Reputation Management (Reviews): If your business relies on local reviews or testimonials, you’ll love this. Rationale: An improved online reputation definitely boosts business revenue over time. When customers leave five-star reviews, potential customers see this as a good sign and will likely choose to do business with you over your four-star competitor.
In the eyes of a customer: Take yourself as an example. You decide to go out for dinner but want to try out a new place. You go to maps and do a quick search. What’s the first thing you check? Reviews, am I right?All-in-One Inbox for Communications: One subtle but huge benefit of GoHighLevel is the Conversations hub, which pulls in all your messages from email, SMS, Facebook Messenger, voicemail, etc. into one unified inbox.
As a solo owner, I don’t have time to check five different messaging apps. With GHL, I can reply to a client’s text, then switch to an email conversation, all on the same screen. Pricing – Is GoHighLevel worth the investment?
Let’s talk dollars. GoHighLevel is not a free tool, and at first glance, the price might give a solo business owner pause. The Starter Plan is $97 per month, which isn’t pocket change.
However, consider what you’re getting: this includes one account with all the core benefits – CRM, marketing automation (email/SMS), funnels & landing pages, calendar, forms/surveys, membership areas, and more.
Essentially, you’re paying under $100 for what could easily be a stack of 5-6 separate tools that would cost much more if bought individually. For perspective, a funnel builder might be ~$97 by itself, an email service $59+, a scheduler $12, a CRM $15… you get the idea.
GHL can actually be a budget-friendly option compared to buying all those separately.
Besides the Starter plan, GoHighLevel offers two higher tiers mainly geared towards agencies or power users:
Unlimited (Agency) Plan – $297/month: This allows you to create unlimited sub-accounts (perfect for those who have more than four brands like mine). In plain English, that means an agency can use one GHL account to manage multiple client businesses.
It also adds more advanced reporting and the ability to white-label the platform with your own branding. Unless you’re running an agency or have several distinct businesses to manage, you probably won’t need this plan as a solopreneur. It’s there for when you do grow or if you start offering services to other businesses.White-Label Mobile App (SaaS) Plan – $497/month: This top-tier lets you resell GoHighLevel as your own software. You get everything in the Unlimited plan, plus a custom-branded mobile app and tools to run your own SaaS product on top of GHL. This is a fantastic option if someday you want to offer a proprietary app to clients, but it’s overkill for most one-person businesses (unless you have a vision to start your own software service).
For the majority of readers here, the $97/mo Starter Plan will cover everything you need to run and grow your business. Yes, it’s a bigger monthly expense than some single-purpose tools, but if you have the budget and you’re serious about consolidating and scaling your operations, GoHighLevel delivers a lot of bang for the buck.

Pros and Cons: My honest take
No software is perfect, and GoHighLevel is no exception. Here’s my quick rundown of pros and cons from a solopreneur perspective:

The integration between features is also seamless (e.g., a funnel form auto-populates the CRM and triggers a workflow), which simply isn’t possible when you use separate apps.
✔️ Automation = Time Savings: The ability to automate follow-ups and client touchpoints is a game changer. GHL lets you build sophisticated workflows that nurture leads and handle routine tasks for you, so you can “set it and forget it.”
As a result, even a one-person business can punch above its weight in terms of consistent marketing and customer care. In fact, by automating repetitive tasks like email sequences and lead tracking, solo business owners can scale their operations efficiently. It’s like having a tireless assistant who works 24/7.
✔️ Consolidated Communication: I love that I no longer need to check multiple platforms for messages. GoHighLevel’s unified inbox ensures I catch every text, email, or Facebook message in one feed. You won’t quickly outgrow it – you can add more contacts, build more funnels, even upgrade to agency features down the road if you start taking on clients. It’s nice to know that the platform has features you can unlock later (like white-labeling or multiple accounts) if your one-person operation evolves into something bigger. In the meantime, those features don’t get in my way; they’re just there as an option.
Cons:
❌ Steep Learning Curve: I won’t lie – GoHighLevel can feel overwhelming at first. There are a lot of features and moving parts, so expect to invest some time in learning the platform. The interface, while logical once you know it, isn’t the most modern or immediately intuitive for absolute beginners. In my first week, I watched a bunch of tutorial videos and did a ton of clicking around. The good news is there’s an active user community and plenty of guides, but be prepared for a learning period. If you’re not willing to spend time upfront to master it, you might get frustrated early on.
❌ User Interface Not the Prettiest: This is somewhat subjective, but I find the UI a bit dated in appearance. It’s functional, yes, but if you’re coming from slick, modern tools, GoHighLevel’s dashboard might feel a little old-school. The design is improving over time, but aesthetically it’s not a shiny Apple-esque experience. For me, this was a minor issue – I’ll take function over form – but it’s worth noting.
❌ Page Builder is Good, Not Great: While the funnel/landing page builder works fine for basic needs, it’s not as powerful or flexible as dedicated web design platforms. If you need advanced designs, complex e-commerce, or fancy interactive elements on your site, you might find GHL’s builder somewhat lackluster. It’s perfect for straightforward marketing funnels and landing pages, but for a full-fledged, highly customized website, some users opt to integrate external builders. (That said, I’ve personally been able to create decent-looking pages and even accept payments via Stripe on GHL – it covers my needs, but hardcore web designers might grumble at the limitations.)
❌ Requires External Services for Email/SMS: To use GoHighLevel’s email and phone features to their fullest, you’ll need a couple of extra accounts, namely Mailgun (for email sending) and Twilio (for phone/SMS). These integrate with GHL and are pay-as-you-go services for your emails and texts. It’s an added setup step and an extra ongoing cost based on usage. Some users don’t love this arrangement – for instance, one reviewer cited Mailgun-only emailing as a dealbreaker since they preferred other email platforms. In my case, setting up Mailgun/Twilio was a bit technical but manageable with tutorials. Just be aware that out-of-the-box, GHL’s powerful communication features do require these third-party hookups rather than, say, a built-in mass email server. (Tip: If you’re not techy, you might want to get help setting up the email/Twilio configuration initially, or opt for GoHighLevel’s own Mailgun reseller service to simplify it.)
❌ Not Ideal for Only One Feature: GoHighLevel shines as an all-in-one combo tool. If you only need one specific solution, GHL might be overkill in both cost and complexity. For example, if all you truly want is a simple appointment scheduler or a basic email marketing tool, there are cheaper, simpler alternatives out there (like Honeybook purely for scheduling, or Mailchimp for basic emails). At ~$97/month, GHL isn’t the cheapest option if you’re not utilizing its breadth of features. It only makes sense if you plan to use it as your central hub. So, if you’re thinking of getting it just for one narrow use-case, you might be better served with a dedicated tool.
In summary, the pros heavily outweigh the cons for someone like me who can leverage most of what GoHighLevel offers. But it’s important to go in with eyes open: there will be a learning curve, and it’s best suited for those who want an integrated system rather than a point solution.
Final thoughts: Should you make the switch to GoHighLevel?
Making the switch to GoHighLevel was one of the best decisions I made for my one-person business. It’s not just another marketing tool – it’s more of an entire toolkit unified in one platform.
